Wow! It's been more than 4 months since i visited my blog. So okay I'd been busy, really. To all my fans and supporters, my apologies. (laugh)
What did i miss? A lot! Let's start with what we have in the box.
Video City opened recently in the City and I was so eager to catch up with my couch and dvd player, so i bought and rented a few.
1. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4
It's like the evolution of an evil entity from something scary to something uhmmmm, errrrrrrrrr..... i don't know. Not much of a scare though but a few surprises will jump you off from your seats. Does this mean that Paranormal Activity has graduated from its course of producing a good story and good scare? We will see.
MY RATE: If you're an Oren Peli fan of the previous franchises of Paranormal Activity, this will disappoint you but for a collection, this will complete your set.
2. DON'T LOOK UP
Nothing interesting about this movie. Not a descent horror flick and a complete waste of viewing time. Surely, it is a waste of money.
MY RATE: Forget it. It's stupid and not worth a single penny. Better watch cartoons.
3. CHERNOBYL DIARY
I was expecting something clear and bright in terms of scaring the hell out of me from this film. But heck, nothing much, again!
MY RATE: Complete waste of money, again.
There you go, the first batch of my catching up with supposedly scary movies...
I just hope before this month ends I could get my hands on with something that will really scare the sh*t out of me!
I woke up this morning in Cagayan de Oro with the cable on at Will's Place and this movie was starting.
This was a story of two estranged brothers (Tommy Riordan and Brendan Conlon who were played by Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, respectively), entering a Mix Martials Arts (MMA) Tournament, Sparta, with the interesting plot that the brothers were struggling with each other's relationship and their father's. The winner of the tournament received $5,000,000 which was the main goal of the two characters in order for them to resolve their individual's challenges. Tommy promised to help the family of his fallen friend in the Marine Corps, while Brendan was confronted with the financial responsibility to his wife and two daughters and the possibility of getting his home foreclosed due to mortgage. The story ended up with the two brothers face to face battled each other. This was directed by Gavin O' Connor (Director of Tumbleweeds, Miracle, Pride and Glory).
I was never a fan of UFC but something told me to glue my eyes in the tube and what did you know, i ended up amazed by how great this film was. The fighting scenes were carefully crafted as if you can feel the pain and the excitement of mix martial arts sport. It was compelling, effective, inspiring and motivating. For me, watching this film was rewarding.
Here are some of the unforgettable scenes from the film...
